You will no doubt be aware of the current global coronavirus pandemic.
The Executive Committee have been discussing this matter over the past week or so and we have been closely monitoring the coronavirus situation as it unfolds.
The health, safety and wellbeing of our members is our primary concern and, after careful consideration, we have taken the unenviable decision, until further notice, to cancel ALL SPA events with immediate effect, starting with the AGM this coming Sunday. This includes the upcoming Superleague events.
We appreciate there will be mixed feelings about this and whilst we know the members looking forward to attending the events will be disappointed it is important that we prioritise the health and wellbeing of all those involved. We wish to minimise any risk to our members and we will be in touch with the member leagues to refund monies that have been sent to the SPA for the Superleague events.
We are in discussions with Pettycur Bay about getting some provisional dates to hold these Superleague events and also assisting those that have booked through the hotel. More information on this will be released when known.
These are unprecedented times for everyone, and similar decisions across all sports are happening not just in Scotland but worldwide.
We ask everyone to closely follow the guidance that is being issued by the NHS and Scottish Government.
We wish good health to all of our members, friends and their families.
Hopefully there will be alternative dates available for competitions later in the year. I will be contacting all entrants that have paid fees for the W McCartney to give them the option of getting their money back or waiting to see if they still want to enter if the competition goes ahead at a later date.
